DIY Homemade Magnets

These magnets were inspired by a ton of different homemade magnet tutorials, but one in particular that I found most adorable was howing how to make Tiny Apple Magnets and delivered in a cute Altoids Tin. Have fun getting busy. These are inexpensive, therapeutic, custom, and look fabulous on the refrigerator.

Have some old magazines and scissors ready before you head out to Michael's craft store.
All you need.
  • Glass marbles with a flat bottom (I found mine in the glass jar/votive aisle)
  • Round magnets to match (or closely  match) the size of the marbles you found
  • Craft sealer. The product above is called Amazing GOOP Sealant
  • A toothpick helps too

Here, you can see that I placed the marble on  the "pork" image in my magazine.
I didn't really use this as one of my choices, but that is a good way to show how big of an item you should seek to cut out.  Once you find an image you like, use your marble like this to see how it will look as a magnet. You can either trace around the marble and cut, or, like me, the inpatient kind, just eye-ball it and cut. Trim access if necessary.

Find lots. This part is fun. Textures, logos, letters, you name it.

Squeeze about a pea-size bit of sealant onto flat bottom of marble

Add image. Don't press completely down yet

Same amount, or a little less, to magnet.

Spread with toothpick

Now press marble and magnet together. This take some thumb and pointer finger strength. Here is where you can actually watch the sealant spread underneath the marble.

One finished.

Lots more to finish.

Some, not so perfect. Some, perfect. I loved doing this and hope you do too!
